The Evolving Face of Terrorism: How it affects Our Country and Security Practitioners

Jeremy M. Kroll, President, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, K2 Intelligence
Jeremy M. Kroll is President, CEO, and Co-Founder of K2 Intelligence and he is the Co-Founder of Kroll Bond Ratings.
Based out of K2’s headquarters in New York City, Jeremy is responsible for charting the firm’s growth strategy, including market development, strategic partnerships, and acquisitions. In his capacity as CEO, Jeremy is also responsible for managing the company’s global business lines. He also spearheads K2’s technology initiatives, with an emphasis on cyber defense, information security, and data analytics.
Before co-founding K2 Intelligence, Jeremy spent 11 years in senior leadership positions at Kroll Inc., a global corporate investigations and risk consulting professional services firm. Kroll Inc. was founded by Jules Kroll in 1972 and was later sold to Marsh & McLennan Companies in 2004. He served as General Manager of the Information Security Group as well as Managing Director and Vice President of Corporate Sales and Marketing. Jeremy also led the successful acquisition and integration of Kroll Ontrack, a nearly $300 million division at the time. He was also responsible for charting the strategic direction and worldwide business development function for what became Kroll’s $200 million Advisory Services business.
In addition to his role at K2, Jeremy also serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for City Year New York, an organization dedicated to lowering the dropout rate of high school students across New York City. Jeremy is also President of the American Friends of Dulwich Picture Gallery of London.

Raymond Kelly
Raymond W. Kelly, Vice Chairman, K2 Intelligence
Raymond W. Kelly is Vice Chairman of K2 Intelligence. Former New York Police Department (NYPD) Commissioner Ray Kelly, brings decades of experience setting strategy to combat threats faced by nations around the world, by the public and by the private sector. He will provide valuable insight into the design and development of tailored enterprise risk solutions for K2 Intelligence clients around the world. Both internal and external risks affecting the safety of client assets and the reputation and stability of their key stakeholders will be addressed. Ray will provide C-suite executives and government municipalities’ top-level guidance on issues such as infrastructure safety, regulatory compliance, and government enforcement response.
Ray is a distinguished leader and protector and is New York City’s longest-serving police commissioner. Under his leadership the NYPD has been described as the premier domestic public-safety agency in the United States. Ray established the first Counterterrorism Bureau of any municipal police department in the country and built the Department’s Intelligence Bureau, creating a global intelligence program with detectives stationed in cities abroad.
Ray joins K2 Intelligence from Cushman & Wakefield where he was President of the firm’s Risk Management Services group. This group offered clients of the commercial real-estate firm tailored solutions to manage and mitigate risks around the world. In the private sector he has also served as President of Investigative Group International and as Chief of Security at Bear Stearns. Ray is a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and an ABC News consultant.

John E. Mack, III, Co-Head, Investment Banking Group, Head of Security Group, Imperial Capital, LLC
Prior to joining Imperial Capital, Mr. Mack founded USBX Advisory Services, LLC, where he was the Chief Executive Officer of this preeminent boutique investment banking firm focused on the Security Industry. Before founding USBX, Mr. Mack served as Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Protection One, Inc., the second largest security alarm monitoring business in North America and a party to approximately 200 M&A/Finance transactions. Mr. Mack earned a B.A. from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles.

Security Industry Equity Capital Markets Update

Jeff Kessler, Managing Director, Institutional Research Group, Imperial Capital, LLC
Mr. Kessler is a Managing Director in the Institutional Research Group. Mr. Kessler has more than 25 years of experience covering security industry for the investment community. He joined Imperial Capital in 2008 from Lehman Brothers where he had served 21 years as the senior security/business services analyst. He was named in December 2006 by Security Magazine as one of the industry’s “25 Most Influential Leaders.” In addition to publishing the Security Industry Annual, and Imperial Capital’s Security Monitor, Mr. Kessler co-founded the Securing New Ground industry conference, which is run by the Security Industry Association and is now in its 17th year. Mr. Kessler earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science / economics from McGill University, a Master of Arts degree in political science/economics from McGill University, and a Master of Science degree in journalism from Columbia University.

Michael Kim, Senior Vice President, Institutional Research Group, Imperial Capital, LLC
Michael Kim is a Senior Vice President in the Equity and Industry Research Group covering the security and technology sectors. Mr. Kim joined Imperial Capital in 2007 and brings over a dozen years of sell-side and buy-side equity research experience. Prior to Imperial, he was an investment analyst for a growth equity hedge fund and was previously a senior research analyst at Roth Capital Partners and Robertson Stephens, where he provided primary equity coverage on the digital media technology sector. Michael’s investment insights have been featured in numerous financial media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Forbes, and CNBC. Michael holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, San Diego and an M.B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles’ Anderson School of Management.
