Arthur W. Coviello, Executive Chairman(retired), RSA, The Security Division of EMC
In 2015, Art Coviello retired as Executive Chairman of RSA, The Security Division of EMC. During Mr. Coviello’s two-decade career at RSA, the company evolved from its roots in authentication and encryption to being a leader in the most important emerging areas of information security, including security analytics, identity, and Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC). Mr. Coviello was the driving force in RSA’s rapid growth during his tenure, increasing revenue from $25 million in 1995 to revenues of more than $1 billion in 2014.
Prior to RSA, Mr. Coviello had extensive operating and financial management expertise in several technology companies. He started his career as a certified public accountant at Deloitte, Haskins & Sells (Deloitte.)
In retirement, Mr. Coviello works with companies, industries, and governments to continue informing and shaping the evolution of security strategy to meet the challenges facing organizations today and tomorrow. Mr. Coviello’s decades of expertise and influence have made him a recognized leader in the industry and he plays key roles in national and international cyber-security initiatives and is a regular speaker at conferences and forums around the world.
Mr. Coviello is a venture partner at Rally Ventures, and serves on the Boards of Directors at Synchrony Financial, EnerNOC, Cylance and Bugcrowd. Mr. Coviello graduated magna cum laude from the University of Massachusetts in 1975 with a BBA, concentration in accounting.
Paul Everett, Senior Director
Paul Everett is the senior director for the building technologies research portfolio of IHS Technology. He manages a team of global analysts and has direct responsibility for setting the strategic direction of the group and managing the respective teams of analysts. Paul is actively involved in conducting research and analysis on the electronic security industry, where his particular area of expertise is the access control industry.
He has authored many studies on a variety of electronic component and end-equipment markets and undertakes custom research and strategic consultancy projects for some of the world’s largest technology providers. Paul is also a regular voice in the industry, presenting at industry events around the world.
Jeff Kessler, Managing Director, Institutional Research Group

Mr. Kessler is a Managing Director in the Institutional Research Group. Mr. Kessler has more than 25 years of experience covering security industry for the investment community. He joined Imperial Capital in 2008 from Lehman Brothers where he had served 21 years as the senior security/business services analyst. He was named in December 2006 by Security Magazine as one of the industry’s “25 Most Influential Leaders.” In addition to publishing the Security Industry Annual, and Imperial Capital’s Security Monitor, Mr. Kessler co-founded the Securing New Ground industry conference, which is run by the Security Industry Association and is now in its 17th year. Mr. Kessler earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science / economics from McGill University, a Master of Arts degree in political science/economics from McGill University, and a Master of Science degree in journalism from Columbia University.
Michael Kim, Senior Vice President, Institutional Research Group, Imperial Capital, LLC
Mr. Kim is a Senior Vice President in the Equity and Industry Research Group covering the security and technology sectors. Mr. Kim joined Imperial Capital in 2007 and brings over 15 years of sell-side and buy-side equity research experience. Prior to Imperial, he was an investment analyst for a growth equity hedge fund and was previously a senior research analyst at Roth Capital Partners and Robertson Stephens, where he provided primary equity coverage on the digital media technology sector. His investment insights have been featured in numerous financial media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Forbes, and CNBC. Mr. Kim holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, San Diego and an M.B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles Anderson School of Management.
John E. Mack, Co-Head, Investment Banking Group, Head of Security Group,

Prior to joining Imperial Capital, Mr. Mack founded USBX Advisory Services, LLC, where he was the Chief Executive Officer of this preeminent boutique investment banking firm focused on the Security Industry. Before founding USBX, Mr. Mack served as Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Protection One, Inc., the second largest security alarm monitoring business in North America and a party to approximately 200 M&A/Finance transactions. Mr. Mack earned a B.A. from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles.
Paul M. Rosen, Chief of Staff, Department of Homeland Security
Paul M. Rosen serves as Chief of Staff at the Department of Homeland Security. In this role, he oversees for the Secretary the operational and organizational needs of the third largest department in the United States government. Mr. Rosen also advises the Secretary and Deputy Secretary on all matters for which DHS has responsibility, including counterterrorism, cyber security, border security, aviation security, trade and travel, immigration, federal disaster response, and criminal law enforcement matters. Mr. Rosen previously served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Counselor at DHS and Chief of Staff at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
From 2010-2013, Mr. Rosen worked as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia and for the Department of Justice Criminal Fraud Section, where he prosecuted a range of financial crimes including securities fraud, bank and mortgage fraud, FCPA, money laundering, insider trading, corruption, bankruptcy fraud, and government and procurement fraud. In recognition of his work, in 2012 the Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency recognized Mr. Rosen with its Investigation Award of Excellence.
At the U.S. Department of Justice, Mr. Rosen also served as counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division. From 2006-2009, Mr. Rosen served as Counsel to then-Senator Joseph Biden, Jr. on the United States Senate Judiciary Committee.
Prior to the Senate Judiciary Committee, Mr. Rosen was a law clerk to the Honorable Gary Allen Feess, U.S. District Judge for the Central District of California.
Mr. Rosen graduated from the University of Southern California School of Law where he was elected to the Order of the Coif, and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Colorado.
John Robuck, Managing Director, Security Finance
Capital One Bank Commercial & Specialty Finance, Commercial BankingMr. Robuck is Managing Director of the Security Finance lending practice within Capital One Bank’s Commercial and Specialty Finance business. In this role, Mr. Robuck leads a team in the underwriting and structuring of senior asset-based and cash-flow financings for middle-market businesses. Specific sectors of focus include alarm monitoring, public safety, government contracting, defense/homeland security, and systems integration businesses.
Prior to joining Capital One in 2011, Mr. Robuck served as Director of CapitalSource Finance’s Security Lending Group where he helped to develop the growth strategy for the business and identified opportunities with new private equity sponsors, intermediaries, and businesses, while continuing to build a portfolio of well-performing, high-yield senior loans. Mr. Robuck has an established presence in the physical and government security markets and participates in several security industry conferences as a panelist and has been often quoted in industry publications.
Mr. Robuck has more than 12 years of senior debt investment experience and more than 10 years of specific security industry experience.
Will Schmidt, Managing Director
William Schmidt currently holds the position of Managing Director within CapitalSource’s Security Lending group. His primary responsibilities include developing new client relationships and structuring, underwriting, and funding transactions within the security and government services markets. Prior to joining CapitalSource in 2004, Mr. Schmidt had broad financial and operational experience in the security alarm industry with positions at SLP Capital and Dealers Monitoring Acceptance Corp (DMAC). At SLP Capital, Mr. Schmidt held the position of Vice President of Dealer Relations, Senior Vice President of Embrasure and Senior Vice President of the Special Asset group. Prior to SLP Capital, Mr. Schmidt worked at DMAC, initially as a Regional Sales Manager and later as Director of Dealer Relations. In the latter position, his responsibilities included managing DMAC’s field service operation as well as managing all aspects of the acquisition of accounts from the DMAC dealer network. Mr. Schmidt holds a M.B.A from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve, and he earned his Bachelor of Science in business from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
